OUR PROCESSES

Our innovative, patented processes maximize wastewater recycling options. This is key to our goal of keeping our waterways, our environment and our communities as safe and healthy as possible.

We can cleanse water from nearly any source by isolating and removing hundreds of types of particles.

The resulting water and beneficial minerals are so pure they meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

Here’s how we do it...

Initial Treatment

Asset 3.png

We begin by testing the wastewater we’ve received. If we detect materials we cannot remove, we reject it.

The wastewater we accept is pumped through clarifiers to extract mud and other large wastes. We correct the PH of the resulting water and apply our patented process to ensure that finer particles are removed when the water is pumped through secondary clarifiers. The clarified water then flows to the final equalization tank where the PH is corrected again.

The resulting water can be recycled to the original users, thus reducing their draw of fresh water from the hydrologic cycle.

Water that isn’t recycled is sent through our distillation process for additional purification.

Water Distillation

Asset 3.png

We employ an exclusive mechanical vapor recompression distiller evaporation technology that is uniquely able to separate very fine, suspended and dissolved particles from water.

The result is distilled water that is 10 times cleaner than the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s standard for clean water.

A co-product of this distillation process is a cleansed, concentrated brine that can be further processed to yield high-purity minerals.

Minerals Crystallization

Asset 3.png

We use the same technology as salt producers around the world to extract beneficial minerals from our purified brine. It’s called vacuum crystallization, which is an energy-efficient way to evaporate water from minerals. At various stages in the process, crystals of lithium, salt and calcium chloride form. We re-cleanse and test our minerals to ensure they are as pure as we intend.

Returning Water to its Natural State

Asset 3.png

The final steps in our treatment process generate water so pure it can be returned to waters of the United States as certified by our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

We meet these exacting governmental standards through a patented process that makes Eureka Resources truly unique. First, we biologically treat our distilled water using a membrane biological reactor to remove residual organics. Then we polish the water with reverse osmosis to remove trace materials. The resulting water meets all U.S. EPA and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection standards for pure water.
